A Note from Pansy

Malak is a dear friend of mine I was introduced to last year by a mutual friend.

She’s a 20 year old nursing student living in Gaza with her family of 9. She’s been completing her coursework surrounded by violence, trying to build a life where she can help people and reach safety/security, all while being unable to afford food and necessities. And while neither of these things are a prerequisite to be deserving of support and care, she’s SUCH a dedicated hard worker and an incredibly kind person.

Even with everything she’s going through, she’s always taken the time to check in on me & ask how my friends are when we’ve had our share of newsworthy events in LA. I can’t wait to show her how much our community cares in return.

On top of it all, despite being verified by the butterfly effect project and her fundraiser being a protected gofundme, bad actors reported her Instagram and her internet connection is inconsistent so she is struggling to get donations.

That’s what gave me the idea for this show. I hope it will allow us to give her funds so she can eat and clothe herself and her family, get school supplies to make her coursework easier, and meet other needs as they come up.
